A closer look at our shop and gunroom

When we unveiled our new clubhouse back in April it was after a long winter lockdown, and we were governed by strict social distancing rules. Thankfully since then, the gradual easing has meant our customers have been able to come inside to enjoy the fantastic food and drink in our cafe and catch up after their round. But there’s more to the clubhouse than just the hospitality! It also contains our shop and a gunroom for our visitors, both ably run by our Retail Sales Manager Max Cope. The shop is the perfect place to snap up a gift for a shooting enthusiast or treat yourself to some upgraded kit. We stock a wide range of clothing and shooting accessories including Harkila, Seeland, Fine Shooting Accessories, Croots and Hawke Optics to name but a few! It’s well worth a browse next time you’re visiting…

The Gunroom

Whether you’re on the hunt for a brand-new gun, keen to try some pre-owned guns to expand your knowledge of the brands on offer or just browsing, you’re always welcome in the gunroom. We have a wide range of brands including Browning, Beretta, Caesar Guerini, Blaser and Perazzi for our customers to try. You can even check one out to try for size on the clays, if you’re shooting with us too. If you’re keen to try something that we don’t carry in stock, we are also able to order in examples of the entire range of each brand, at short notice. Custom specifications can be organised in addition.

The correct gun fit is essential for successful shooting, both in the clays and in the field. When you visit our gunroom, you’ll benefit from Max and our instructors’ impartial advice about the size and brand of gun which suits you best. It’s definitely worth having a chat with our team before you make a purchase as they have many years of expertise between them! We want our customers to get the best possible result when selecting a new gun, whatever your budget or shooting discipline, so call in and have a chat with Max before you decide on your next purchase.

Our Gunsmith

If you’ve been having an issue with your gun, you would like an alteration made or you think it has a functional niggle which needs attention, did you know we have a gunsmith working on site here at Thimbleby? The highly respected James Reynolds, also known as the ‘Woodworking Gunsmith’, is available for appointments in his purpose-built workshop which is very convenient for those wishing to combine dropping off or picking up their gun with a visit to the shooting ground! James has spent many years honing his craft and we are very privileged to have him on site and so close to hand. Drop our team a line to book an appointment with James or visit his website here.
