A whirlwind summer of events at Thimbleby

This month we’ve seen the return of autumn to the North York Moors and the countryside nearby, with the heather changing colour and a distinct chill to the early morning air. It’s the perfect time to reflect on a summer which was packed with Thimbleby events, the perfect tonic to a pandemic-driven 18 months of disruption and uncertainty.  We had events at the forefront of our minds when we invested in our superb new clubhouse, picturing it full of people gathering for an exciting day tackling our stands, socialising in the cafe, and enjoying a browse in the gunroom and shop. To see that finally come to fruition has been very satisfying indeed.

The Demo Day

Our Demo Day saw representatives from Harkila, Seeland, Zoli Antonio Shotguns and Rifles and the Edgar Brothers visit the ground to showcase their latest and best-selling products. The event was a fantastic opportunity for our members and customers to really try out kit before purchasing and comparing different brands. Our team thoroughly enjoyed it so if you missed this one, make sure you save the date for our next one which takes place on the 8th of October.

Ladies Nights

We have held several successful Ladies Nights over the summer, and they’ve always gone down a storm! The ladies gathered at our clubhouse before being divided into groups according to their experience levels. Our team of instructors then gave a safety briefing before taking their groups out onto the shooting ground. Novice groups shot 25 clays while the more experienced got through 50 before everyone returned to the clubhouse for afternoon tea style refreshment. Keep an eye out for details of the next Ladies Night, coming soon.

Young Shots Days

Over the summer we held two sold out Young Shots Days for children and young people ages 10 to 16. The days gave them the chance to try their hand at both clay pigeon and air rifle shooting with expert tuition and all safety kit and guns provided. Both days were a great success and we’re already being asked about our plans for more Young Shots Days. We’re hoping to run another in the October half term holiday, so make sure you drop us a line to be on the list when we release the date (or make sure you keep an eye on social media for more information when we release it!).

If you have an idea for an event we’re not currently putting on, make sure you drop us a line! We would love to hear your ideas and you never know; we might just run one like it in the future.
