Lockdown updates from the Thimbleby team

As we write this, we are just over halfway through the second lockdown of 2020 so what better time to update you all on our news and some plans for the future? This year certainly hasn’t been easy, but we are proud of everything we’ve achieved here as a team despite the challenges.

Have you checked out our Simulated Game Days?

One of the most significant changes we have made in 2020 is the highly successful launch of our Simulated Game Shooting Days. These challenging and fun days out have been in the pipeline for a while and it was so good to see people here enjoying themselves on them. Fingers crossed we will be able to run them here at Thimbleby again before long. Here’s the lowdown in case you’ve not come across the concept of a Simulated Game Shooting Day before or you want to hear more about why ours are downright brilliant…!

As the name suggests, the day aims to give guns the closest experience to a traditional day of driven game shooting, but with clay pigeon targets instead of live birds. Our Sim days cater for between 8 and 10 guests and they enjoy the same warm welcome and exceptional hospitality as you would find on a traditional driven game day. We provide fabulous food – breakfast, elevenses, lunch and afternoon tea! They provide an excellent chance to get to know fellow guests a little better and to run through everyone’s performance on the previous drive.

We are very lucky here to be based on the stunning Thimbleby Estate, which gives us an unrivalled variety of landscapes for our Sim Day guests to shoot over. During the 4 drives they enjoy grouse moorland, steep valleys and challenging woodland. Of course, we’ve had to pause these brilliant days for now, but it won’t be long until they return. We’re also pleased to share the news that they will run all year-round, so you won’t have to wait until next autumn to have a go.

The new clubhouse is nearing completion…

As well as the introduction of Sim Days, we’ve also been ploughing ahead with our investment in the development of the shooting ground. The centerpiece to this is the new clubhouse, which is getting closer and closer to being completed! We are thankful that construction on it has been able to continue throughout the second lockdown so that our visitors will be able enjoy it during the coldest months of the year. It is going to be quite simply fantastic. We’ve added a cosy area with a log burner for post-shooting debriefs in winter and a full commercial kitchen to help us cater for corporate days and busy weekends. It won’t be long until we can share it with you, watch this space.

On the hunt for Christmas present ideas?

If so, why not give someone a Thimbleby Shooting Ground gift voucher? Our vouchers come in denominations of £25.00, £50.00 and £100.0 or you can gift someone membership (and joining membership) in a range of packages. It’s a fantastic way to help a keen gun enjoy a weekend in the New Year. Take a closer look and buy online here: https://www.thimblebyshoot.com/shop/
