Say hello to TSG’s new chef!

We are delighted to introduce Thimbleby Shooting Ground’s new chef, Karl Rochford. Karl has over 35 years’ experience of cooking in high end hotel kitchens, most recently as Head Chef at a local country hotel. Prompted to do something different when the pandemic hit, Karl has now joined our fantastic clubhouse team and we’re so pleased to have him. He brings a passion for creating good, honest food and has already been hard at work dreaming up superb menus for our cafe, events and simulated game days.

When he’s not working in the kitchen, Karl loves to indulge his passion for aircraft, in particular those from the Second World War era, by heading to airshows. He’s also a dedicated family man and celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary last year, while his daughter continues her studies to be a vet at the Royal Veterinary College. Karl does enjoy a round or two on the clays when his schedule allows, so you might see him out and about enjoying the shooting ground too. A big welcome to Karl!

The New Clubhouse Menu

Karl has already devised a new menu for the cafe, which includes a range of breakfast options (including a hearty Full English!) which are served from 9:00am to 11:30am. Then, from 11:30am to 3:30pm our visitors can enjoy the new clubhouse menu – and there are so many fantastic dishes to choose from! Soups, hot sandwiches and sharing platters for those keen for a lighter bite, or full meals such as shin of beef cottage pie with a dauphinoise crust and served with roasted carrots. There’s also our afternoon tea with homemade sweet treats or a savoury tea if you prefer more scotch egg and a little less cake. Finally, there are a range of delicious desserts to finish the meal with. We’re working our way through the new menu at the moment and can assure you that it does not disappoint.
