It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Thimbleby Clubhouse now! The tree is up, the lights are sparkling, and the cold outside ensures seating closest to the log burner is a very popular choice. Our festive shooting and lunch packages will kick off from the 1st of December, and if you haven’t got around to booking yet, you still can. Find all the details here and either email Lucy at or call us to book your package. Booking is required, so don’t miss the chance to kick off your festive season with a bang.
Of course, it’s also the time of year when present shopping takes over and we’re all racing around ticking people off our lists. If you’d like to treat your friends and loved ones to some really special gifts this year, you’ll find lots to catch your eye in our shop. In this blog we’re sharing our gift guide, which includes the perfect presents for him, her, your beloved dogs, as well as stocking fillers and some ‘blow the budget’ options.
Gift ideas for her
We’re thrilled to be a Barbour stockist here at Thimbleby and there are some real gems in the brand’s autumn/winter collection. From cosy roll-neck jumpers and snug socks to stylish silk scarves, our Barbour range is definitely worth a browse. The Barbour wool scarf is in the classic Barbour tartan and you can wear it like a wrap or cape for a fun twist on the country look. If you’d love to give a gift that’s stylish and practical, our Jack Pike shirts will certainly tick the right boxes for country and shooting adventures. Our wooden sticks will also delight, and you can choose from a range of antler tops and lengths for a comfortable and handy stick.
Gift ideas for him
Men are notoriously hard to buy for (unless we could all afford to give them a spot on a simulated game day once a month or a visit to a different shoot every weekend…), so here are some gift ideas for inspiration. We have the most wonderful collection of antler-topped sticks that are perfect for beating, walking and having on your peg to hang a jacket on when the sun comes out. Our Thimbleby winter hat is a cosy and cost-effective choice, while there are Barbour goodies for men too, including some fabulous, patterned socks that will certainly turn heads. If this wet weather carries on into winter, then a pair of Barbour wellington boots and some MacWet shooting gloves will be just the ticket.
Gift ideas for dogs
We know lots of our customers and members are dog lovers and wouldn’t dream of leaving them with nothing to unwrap on Christmas morning. Luckily, we have a range of perfect presents for pooches that are suitable for all budgets. There are Jack Pike coats to keep them warm and dry, Pampeano leads and collars to ensure they’re the smartest dog in the field and lots of training toys. We also have Barbour’s popular toy collection and books to help you train your gundog – if you need any hints and tips, of course!
As well as bigger ticket items, we know that lots of you will be on the hunt for ideas for stocking fillers and Secret Santa presents for co-workers and family. Here are some gift ideas that are perfect for a
smaller budget. Did you know that we have our very own TSG-branded scented candles? Perfect for lighting up the gloom of a winter evening and adding a lovely fragrance to your home, these make wonderful presents. Or, if you know someone loves the hand-made Argentinian polo belts from Pampeano, why not get them a matching key ring? We also have gifts from hunting and shooting brand Jack Pike and gun cleaning accessories!
Gift ideas to blow the budget
And finally, we have some real showstoppers to finish off this year’s gift guide! They include bespoke items and truly fabulous presents so if you’re in the market to blow the budget, look no further… Top of the list has to be bespoke cartridge bags and gun slips from Coleman Baines, where you can choose from a huge range of leather colours and styles including mock croc and hide on hair. A tipple on a bracing winter walk is a Christmas tradition for many, so just imagine someone’s face when they wrap a giant four-litre bottle of sloe gin. There are also the smart Active8 ear defenders from Swatcom which transmit voices to your ears while effectively blocking out the report of your shotgun and a shotgun cleaning kit that packs away neatly into a smart wooden box.
