Welcoming William Mole to the Thimbleby gunroom!

We’re delighted to welcome William Mole to Thimbleby Shooting Ground as our new Gunroom Manager! If you’ve visited us over the past few weeks, you might have spotted a new face, and this is your chance to get to know a little more about William and why he’s such a great addition to the team. Plus, in this blog we’re delving into what’s on offer in the gunroom and how it can help you succeed on the shooting ground and in the field. Let’s get started!

William brings over 15 years’ experience in the shooting trade to his role, having worked across both retail outlets and shooting grounds. That combination of practical, hands-on knowledge and customer-focused experience makes him perfectly placed to help our customers of all levels find the right equipment and advice.

Having recently moved to North Yorkshire from Northumberland to join us, William has been enjoying learning what makes Thimbleby tick and getting properly stuck into his role. He’s excited by the potential here at the ground, the plans for expansion ahead and the opportunity to shape the Gunroom into a space that genuinely supports the way people shoot today.

When he gets time, William enjoys shooting both clays and game, though he’s the first to admit work often comes first… Outside the shooting world, he holds a private pilot’s license and takes to the skies whenever he can – and when he’s not at work or in the air, he’s usually accompanied by his yellow Labrador, Lily. A very busy fellow, indeed!

One of the things William is most passionate about is helping people find the kit and setup that works for them. Rather than having a single favourite firearm brand, he values the fact that different manufacturers offer different strengths, designs and benefits.

That’s where Thimbleby’s gunroom and ground comes into their own. Being able to handle guns in person, talk through options and then take them out onto the shooting ground to try them properly is something William firmly believes you can’t beat. It’s an approach rooted in experience rather than guesswork and one that gives customers confidence in their decisions and a proper feel for the differences between designs and brands.

In his very first week at Thimbleby, William visited the Zoli factory in Italy to accompany a client to have a pair of Zoli’s made to measure to make sure they had the professional experience and customer service throughout this process. William came away hugely impressed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail behind the guns. It’s that behind-the-scenes insight – how guns are built, finished and tested – that he brings back into everyday conversations with our customers in the gunroom.

Inside the gunroom at Thimbleby

While many people know Thimbleby Shooting Ground for its lessons, competitions and welcoming clubhouse, our gunroom is very much a destination in its own right.

Stocked with a wide range of firearms, accessories and ammunition, it caters for everyone from seasoned shots to those taking their first steps into the sport. We’re proud to stock brands including Zoli, Browning, Caesar Guerini, Beretta, Perazzi and Blaser, and can order in particular models and additional brands. So, if you’re gearing up for a CPSA competition, preparing for a day in the field or simply refining your setup for dusting clays on the ground, William is there to help you get the most from your shooting.

Shotgun & rifle ammunition

We’re also proud to supply shotgun and rifle ammunition, including in bulk to large estates, offering excellent rates and reliable, high-quality supplies. Whatever your requirements, our team can talk through options and help ensure you’re prepared for every shoot. If you’d like to know more about our shotgun and rifle ammunition offering, chat to William or another member of the team next time you’re visiting the ground.

Browse our guns on GunTrader

To make browsing easier, all the guns we currently have for sale in the gunroom are listed on GunTrader. This allows you to explore specifications, compare options and keep an eye on new stock from home and plan out lots of questions to ask when you come in to browse. Our listings are updated quickly as new guns come in, so it’s well worth checking back regularly.

Try before you buy

Choosing a new shotgun or rifle is a big decision, which is why we offer the opportunity to demo guns before you buy. Customers are welcome to try demo guns or second-hand stock out on the shooting ground, using their favourite stands, to get a real feel for how a gun performs.

If you’re looking for a particular specification that isn’t currently on site, William and the team are always happy to order in exactly what you need at short notice.

At Thimbleby, we know that the right equipment, chosen with care and on good advice, can make a real difference. From selecting a firearm that suits your shooting style to finding ammunition that performs consistently, the gunroom is here to support your time on the ground and in the field. With William leading the Gunroom, that support is backed by years of experience, a practical mindset and a genuine enthusiasm for helping people get the most out of their shooting.

So next time you’re visiting Thimbleby Shooting Ground, be sure to stop by the gunroom, have a chat, and see what’s on offer!
