From sessions that give the perfect introduction to shooting and brand demo days to competitions galore and our popular young shots days, there’s something for everyone coming up this year. If you like the look of one of our events, then make sure you secure your space early to avoid disappointment – call 01609 883401, email info@thimblebyestate.com  or enquire at reception next time you visit.

Side by Side Competition: Tuesday 7th May

Form a squad of five people and visit between 1pm –  6pm to shoot our side by side 50 bird sporting across seven stands with a .410 high tower challenge (gun supplied for the latter). We have amazing prizes including a side by side for our high gun and 250 cartridges, 100 clays and a TSG cap for our ladies and junior high guns! We also have a special prize for the gun who takes the Glorious Twelfth spot… Tickets are £45 for members and £49 for non-members and include a burger and beer (or soft drink) and your entry. Booking is limited to 80 people and timings will be given to ensure everyone can shoot.

Demo Day: Wednesday 12th June

Join us between 12pm  – 9pm as we host Edgar Brothers (Zoli shotguns and AGT air rifles), Anglo Italian Arms (Caesar Guerini and Fabarm), Blaser UK (rifles and shotguns plus clothing), Gamebore and Beretta (clothing and accessories only). We’ll also welcome our local BASC team, Top Shop Osmotherley with local Yorkshire produce and, of course, our own team with details of memberships and our full retail offering.

The ground will be open for shooting demo guns between 1pm – 8pm, we will have a delicious BBQ from 5pm – 8pm and we will have live music  between 8pm – 9pm! The following demo guns will be available:

  • Game guns
  • All forms of clay guns inc. mid and high rib
  • Ladies guns
  • Small bores
  • Left handers
  • Semi-autos

Young Shots Introduction to Shooting: Tuesday 6th August

We’re looking forward to welcoming young people aged between 10  – 16 for an introduction to shooting during the summer holidays! There will be four groups of five guns shooting in two sessions, so every attendee gets plenty of individual tuition from our instructors. The first session kicks off at 12:30pm until 3:00pm, and the second runs from 3:30pm to 6:00pm. Attendees will be given an excellent introduction to safe gun handling and shoot 25 clays and cartridges during two hours of tuition. Bacon rolls will be served on arrival and tickets are £55 per person – booking is essential as these days are always very popular.

Ladies Introduction to Shooting: Saturday 10th August

This event is for ladies who would love to learn how to shoot clay pigeons and want to do so in a fun, safe environment, with excellent instructors and plenty of camaraderie! There are two sessions available, morning and afternoon, each including two hours of tuition inclusive of 25 (beginners) or 50 (advanced) clays and cartridges per person and tasty afternoon tea-style refreshments with fizz.

Groups are limited to just five people to ensure plenty of 1:1 teaching, and the smaller numbers mean that booking is recommended. The morning session runs from 9:30am to 12:30pm and the afternoon session runs from 1pm to 4pm, and tickets cost beginners £90 for members and £95 for non-members and advanced £110 for members and £115 for non members.

Demo Day: Wednesday 14th August

Join us for another  popular demo day, this time in August, and try the latest cross section of clay, game and small bore guns from a range of leading manufacturers. At the moment, the confirmed brands and details are the same as for our June demo event, and we share updates on social media closer to the date.

Ladies Pheasant Day: Saturday 28th September

This exclusive event, with just 10 spaces available, aims to get ladies ready for the driven pheasant season and shares top tips for preparing and cooking the contents of their game bag. Five women will shoot in the morning, meeting at 9:30am, enjoying 50 clays and cartridges including a focus on high targets before heading back to the clubhouse for a game preparation session with Rob Newton from BASC. The fruits of their labour will then be barbecued for all to enjoy before you  depart at 12:30pm. The second group will kick off at 12:00pm and follow the same format before departing at 3pm. Booking is essential to secure your space and tickets cost £110 for members and £120 for non-members.
