Unveiling the New Clubhouse and Reopening

The reopening day was exciting for several reasons for the team here at Thimbleby Shooting Ground. Not only were we finally able to welcome visitors back after a long, quiet winter of lockdown, but we were also opening our new clubhouse to the public for the very first time.

Work started on the build back in June 2020, and a combination of the pandemic and Brexit made sourcing some of the building materials tricky at times so this did feel a long time coming! But seeing it finished and looking so good has made up for any stress it caused. Customers who came to shoot in late 2020 will have seen the building work making progress, but it’s been a real pleasure to finally see the reactions when people walk inside for the first time.

The clubhouse opening is an exciting landmark in our ongoing investment in Thimbleby Shooting Ground and our plans for expansion. It offers our visitors a place to relax, eat and drink after a challenging round of shooting, or for partners and loved ones to socialise while someone has their first ever lesson. We’ve also added a high spec gun room, retail space and meeting rooms to ensure it’s a versatile space for everyone to enjoy. Of course, if you’re interested in one thing and one thing only – the shooting – you’ll be pleased to hear that we’ve invested our resources in upgrading our existing stands and adding some exciting new ones too.

Obviously, we’re slightly restricted at the moment and can’t open up the indoor seating and food areas, but it won’t be long until the rules change again. That will be another exciting day for the team, seeing people gathered around tables indoors for the first time. In the meantime, customers have been enjoying food and drink in the new outdoor terrace area and soaking up a little bit of Vitamin D. If you haven’t made it down yet, we look forward to seeing what you think when you’re next shooting here.

Thank you for your support

The whole team here at Thimbleby would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported our reopening. Whether you were one of the first customers to head back through our gates or you’ve been liking, sharing and commenting on social media, your support means the world to us. It’s been a tough 12 months, but we’re focused on our development plan and making Thimbleby into a truly exceptional place for clay shooting enthusiasts to spend their precious time.
